Procedure: During the appointment, a blood sample will be drawn from the mother. This is a simple and safe procedure similar to any routine blood test.

Laboratory Analysis: The blood sample is sent to a laboratory where fetal DNA is analyzed. The test looks for the presence of Y chromosomes, which would indicate a male fetus. If no Y chromosomes are detected, the fetus is female.
